Elvis and The Singing Reindeer

Hello Everyone,

At my house it's not officially the Christmas season until two things happen. When I breakout my Elvis Christmas cassette and when I bring out my Singing Reindeer. Now I have had my Elvis cassette since sometimes in the 80's. Here it is:

It had ten songs on it and I played it all the time from the first of December to January. Well my daughter and husband would get tired of it. They grew to hate it! So the next Christmas season I always spent the most part of November hunting it cause they would hide it from me. This was an annual occurrance.

A friend of my husbands came over one day and he had just bought a car. He was complaining about the car only having a cassette player and not a CD player. He asked my husband if he had any old cassettes he could borrow. Well I guess you've figured out what happened to my Elvis cassette. I was LIVID! Of course my husband said that he didn't even know what cassette he gave him he just picked one up. Granted it was just laying there. Well I told him to GET IT BACK! This friend came by every Sunday afternoon and spent the day with us so I knew I'd get it back.

So later in the week when we heard he had been in a car accident, I knew I would never see my beloved Elvis Christmas cassette again. So after going completely balistic on my husband (that's another story). I marched right out to WalMart to get me a new one. Easier said than done, I couldn't find it at WalMart, couldn't find it anywhere. So off I go back home and went balistic again! He had to realize the significance of what he had done, right?

It was about six months til Christmas and I hoped that I could find one somewhere. Then it happened. One day while standing in line at WalMart I seen this beautiful sight:

OH HAPPY DAY! Of course I grabbed it right up. Not only does it have all the songs my old cassette had, it has 14 MORE songs! YES, YES, YES! My Christmas tradition will continue!!!

Now onto my Singing Reindeer. Here they are:

Aren't they cute? This is Chilly and Nipper. My mother bought these back in the 90's at a Christmas Around The World party. Each one of them have velcro on one hoof and when you stick them together they sing this little tune:

Now again my hubby and daughter can't stand these two little reindeer. They hate it when I play them. My dog isn't even behind me on this one. He doesn't mind the reindeer until they start to sing. Then it becomes his mission in life to shred them to smithereens. Here he is last night when I started to play them. He was moving so fast I just caught a glimpse of him in the right hand corner. He was moving in for the kill!

I am happy to report that on Sunday I showed them to my Ray and he LOVED them! He first just stared at them then he started to do his little dance that he does. He tries to snap his fingers when he hears music but he hasn't quite achieved that yet. I told Summer and she said that they will never be brought into her house. So I told her that I will definately make sure that Ray will get both of my Christmas treasures, my Elvis cd and my Singing Reindeer!

So the Christmas season has begun at my house. I am almost done with all my shopping and I am ready now! Ineed to run as I am leaving early again today and need to get some work done. Oh I have added a Flag counter to the right. Today I have had Italy, Russia, India and yesterday Iran visiting my blog. I thought it would be neat to have the Flag counter. Now I hope they come back! Everyone keep safe in this rainy weather.

Have a blessed day!

Hooray for your Elvis recovery.
I love Christmas music... my mom has these toy soldiers that use mallets to ring bells and play songs. I love that thing.. until the kids turn it on and play it ALL DAY!

Oh.My.Gosh!

That is just too funny - both the Elvis cassette story and the singign reindeer.

Now, if I were you, I'd make some backup copies of your Elvis CD. Just in case, you know, someone "accidently" loans it to another family friend.

I don't think I've ever seen that picture of Elvis. Wow!! He looked really good there...

Great post. I hate it when some of my favorite things "accidentally" get loaned out or go missing!

Valerie you crack me up. This was funny. And another thing. I KNEW I was missing a box of Christmas decorations and items and I couldn't remember what it was I just knew there were missing boxes. Alas, I see your reindeer and YES I too have those reindeer and they are most definately in the missing box!!!!! Now I must go searching...

LOL! For some reason, the thing that made me laugh the hardest, was the casette tape, it's just so retro fab! My parents can beat that, though. They still have the Elvis Christmas album and play it on their record player. I tease them about it, but secretly I love it!

Fun story! I love Christmas music too. Make sure to check out my give-a-way....all you have to do is tell me your favorite Christmas song, that should be pretty easy to do. :D
