Work, Family and Halloween

Hello Everyone,

I am so glad it is Wednesday!! I am off half a day tomorrow and I can't wait. I'm not going to be lazy and laying around though. Hubs had cataract surgery on October 29 so tomorrow is his follow up visit and also his 6 month check up to his regular doctor. I guess just a little break from work is good. Then again I am so grateful to even have a job!

One in which I hope to continue to have but need your prayers as there is a certain situation that may not only affect the future of my job but also those of my co-workers throughout the Southeast. With my health problems I know it will be hard finding a job that pays me what I get paid now, on salary, and still be able to take off whenever I need to. I can't disclose the situation yet just know that it really needs your prayers. I hate that I am sounding/feeling selfish worrying about my job when this is really a horrible situation.

Last Friday my brother in law Anthony had to have a couple of tumors (cancerous) removed from his bladder. Now this is his third surgery for this type of operation. The doctor told us that he will just keep getting them. The thing that bothers me is that he is suppose to go back every 3 months and he doesn't always do that. Makes me very irritated at him and a little at my sister too. My hubs has to go back every year to make sure his Kidney cancer isn't back. I make his appointment and make sure he goes. Which by the way my hubs went a couple of weeks ago and he is still cancer free!! Yay!!! Three years now!!! Okay, back to my brother in law, I just feel like that between him and my sister one of them should be able to make sure he has an appointment every three months and goes to it!! I'm just sayin. . .

I hope you all had a great Halloween. My 2 yo grandson was running a fever the day before and as they were getting him dressed to make his rounds (grandparents', aunts, church, etc., etc.) my daughter noticed he was warm again. Well he was running a fever so he didn't get to go out. You know he is so little he really didn't care. lol So they came over the next day with his empty little pumpkin. Made me a little sad that it was empty.

We usually don't get but one or two trick or treaters so I always have a lot of candy left. My little man loves sweet tarts, just like his Paw, so when he came in he went straight to watching cartoons. Got to love Nick Jr.! Anyway, when he did notice the candy he started to pick out, one by one, the little sweet tarts. After a little bit he kinda looked over to see if we were watching him. We were but didn't let him see us. At that point he took my candy bowl and turned it upside down on the floor. He was picking the rest of the sweet tarts out when he glanced up at us and when he thought we weren't looking he started picking up all the candy and dumping it into his little pumpkin. He was just too cute. Acting like we wouldn't notice. At that point though I did jump up and hide my candy corn ;).

Needless to say that after going to my house, his Nana's house, seeing two aunties and then my mother bringing him his candy Monday he had enough candy for a whole class room!!! This is what happens when sucking on a ring pop while it's suppose to be nap time!!

Ok so that's my thunks for today. I am off tomorrow. I have several errands I have to run plus my nieces are graduating from high school. So that means a party afterwards then I plan on going to see my sister's new house in Hayden. I will have 2 sisters, 1 brother and my parents living up there now. Soon my daughter will live a couple of towns over in Sumiton. They are building on their land with a lake!! My husband loves that idea. They have 10 acres and want us to build by them. We are thinking about it!

Please remember to pray for Baby Jarrod and Ezra that were in my previous posts. Ok almost forgot another prayer request for a very good bloggy friend of mine. Her and her husband has a big decision they have to make that will affect a lot of lives. Please pray that they make the right decision for them and the other lives involved. Until next time

Prayers Needed for Baby Jarrod!!

Hello Everyone,

One of my oldest and dearest friends' daughter had her baby yesterday. Summer and Miranda went to school together from elementary to high school and some college too. Summer ended up marrying Miranda's cousin. Her baby shower is on the 6th and we are so excited about going. She lives right down the street from my daughters' in laws too.

So her baby is 2 months premature. He weighed 3 lbs. 13 ozs. He is breathing on his own but from what I understand his esophagus isn't attached right so they will have to do surgery on him. So please be saying prayers for him and his family.

I did still want to say congratulations to my friend and to Miranda and Brandon. Also to Jarrod Thomas welcome to the world, you will be in my prayers for a speedy recovery from your surgery. I am not sure when the surgery will take place but as I asked above please say a prayer for him. Until next time

Just For Me Saturday

Hello Everyone,

I had a great day Saturday! It started out early with breakfast with my sister Angie and niece Keely. We then met my other sister Helen and all went for pedicures. Oh gosh. Relaxation. Bliss. Contentment. Pleasure. I absolutely love pedicures. Now I usually go with my daughter but she was busy today. I got the Deluxe Pedicure. That is where you get your legs messaged and wrapped in hot towels. Gosh I needed it. Not only were my feet fugly but I needed it. It was great.

I then left my sisters and ran a few errands, including getting my new wireless all in one printer. I haven't set it up yet but I'll probably do that sometime tomorrow.

I then met Helen and my other sister Emily and brother-in-law Anthony at Styx for lunch. Let me just say that I love Styx. Any place that serves fried rice I am there. We always get the same Teppanyaki chef when we go there. I had the steak and shrimp. My sister Emily had the Bama Crunch and California roll from the Sushi bar. Now I really don't care for Sushi. But I must say the Bama Crunch is very good, though it would not fill me up. I always have left overs with the steak and shrimp and usually take it home to hubby.

After lunch I went home to see hubby. He actually had plans for tonight and had to leave by 4:30. I had a party at 2 to go to so we didn't have but about 30 minutes together today. Which we were both bummed about.

So off I went to a jewelry party. I had a really good time. I hadn't been to one in about 6 months and I was surprised to see that it wasn't our usual lady. It was actually my son-in-law's aunt that was the jewelry lady. I didn't even know that she had been doing it since like August. So it was a very comfortable party knowing that family was in charge. We really had a good time. They have a few new pieces that I absolutely fell in love with. I bought two today and will buy a few more at Angela's (Summer's mother-in-law) and my sister's party.

So all in all I had a great day. Saturday night I caught up on my DVR shows. Then I jumped in the shower and then settled down in bed to watch Mama Mia. It was a good day!

One more thing I want to ask for prayers for my new bloggy friend Victoria at Vicupdates. I got an email from her and she is in the hospital. Please remember her.

Friday Happenings

Hello Everyone,

Well the doctor finally called and I have Bronchitis. So three days after going to the doctor he calls me in a prescription. Good thing it wasn't something really serious right? I am still waiting on my kidney results he said they weren't in yet. Need prayers that they are ok and I am not rejecting my kidney.

As I was sitting on my couch I started to hear all kinds of popping noises. As my dog barked and ran around the living room because of the noise, I realized it was fireworks. I had forgotten that they were celebrating the opening of the baseball fields for this season. Our city just last year built new baseball fields after destroying the old ones for a new mall. The new ones are really just down the street from my house. Though you can't access them from my neighborhood unless you want to walk or swim (depending on the depth) across a creek. You can see the lights though. So that explained the strange popping noises.

I met my sisters and mother for lunch and I got my grand baby at around 1 and spent about two hours with him and Larry at my house. Oh and it was my nieces Senior Prom. We all met up at my sister's house for pictures around 4. Here are my nieces in their dresses.


The girls were in a great mood after they had finally got their dresses on and weren't stressing so much. We had a good time taking pictures and watching them leave.

So that was basically my Friday. I was so glad to be feeling better and that the weekend was here. I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Let's see I have 43, Rachael had 44 one more than me. Rachael had also listed what she'd like to do on the list. So here's what I want to do:

Gosh I thought I'd have more than four. But after going over the list again these are the only four that I really want to do. I enjoyed doing this, I hope you do too.

This brings me to some sad news, little Cora has lost her life to cancer. Visit her mom's blog here and say a prayer for their family. On January 22nd they found out their precious baby had cancer she passed away this weekend. So fast!

Also, remember Cynthiaa at Yummy Mommy who had to deliver her baby after finding out that he had passed away due to umbilical cord strangulation. Both of these families need prayer at this time.

Weekend Wrap Up

Hello Everyone,

Well I have had a few busy days. First off, we had a great weekend. We had Ray on Saturday of course. He is always a delight and we always have so much fun with him. His vocabulary has grown so much. We don't even try to get him to say words he just walks up and dazzles us. Out of the blue he'll say "pease" (please) and "tanks" (thanks). He can say little phrases like "I did it." Or "All gone". I'll ask him if he's thirsty and he'll say "tursty", "lobe you" and "batitball" (basketball) and "futball". Of course he has been saying (to his Paw, Papa and daddy's delight) "tuchdown" as he throws both arms straight up into the air. lol But he is so smart it is scary. Even his doctor always goes on and on about his intellect and how advance he is. She always saids she just can't believe it.

About a month ago he walked up to his mommy and pointed to her stomach and said baby. Now we didn't even know until last week that she was pregnant. Now he is doing it even more and he'll go and blow on his mommy's stomach. It is so cute. The funny thing is that we have never said anything to him about baby's being in the stomach. He hasn't been around anyone that has been pregnant and really how do you tell a 15 month old that a baby is in someone's stomach? I'm telling you he is a wonder!

On Sunday hubby and I just lounged around the house. I put together my new exercise bike and Larry got caught up on his movies. I haven't been to spin class in quite a while so I decided I'd get me a bike at home that I could ride. Anyone want to buy spin pants, seat and shoes? lol j/k I'll get back to it soon enough along with my kickboxing and aerobic classes. I really need to get off of my derriere. I lost 40 lbs in 2007 and I put about 15 back on last year. So I need to at least get those 15 back off. NO that is not my New Year's resolution. Don't believe in those.

My sister is having surgery in the morning so please remember her in your prayers. It's outpatient so she should be in and out but they tell us it's going to take about three to six weeks for recovery.

I Can Make That!!

Well I am done with my "I Can Make That Party" item. If you haven't read my previous post go check out Chris's website at Just A Girl and get the details. I found out about it Monday afternoon and so I got my supplies and here is mine:

It's a Christmas Shadow Box:


I've had this shadow box that I've been meaning to do something with and I think it turned out well. This is what it looked like before I did anything:


This is after I added craft paper to the back, the angel and stamped snowflakes on it:


Here are the supplies I used:


They are really easy to make. My shadow box had glass but I know that they make some without glass. All of the decorations except for the twinkle trim (I used it instead of snowflakes) and the blocks were ornaments.

So you need a shadow box, assorted Christmas figures and small decorations, strong craft glue or glue gun. Twinkle trim, crystal snow or artificial snow. Stamp and ink pad. (I used craft paper for the back lining but it's up to you if you want to do that or not)

Take the back of the shadow box off. Arrange your figures in a way that you like your Christmas scene to look from the front. When you've decided how you want everything arranged start gluing items in place. After the glue has dried put in your snow or twinkle trim and your done!

Hope you like my craft. I liked all the silhouette ideas so I have decided that I am going to get a plaster hand and plaster foot of my grandson. I'm gonna shape them oval or round and put a hook on them. Since the back is so flat I thought I would put a picture of him on the back of one of them. On the other one I am going to do his silhouette. I think my daughter would like that hanging from her tree.

Speaking of my daughter her and her husband got some bad news yesterday. So everyone keep them in your prayers that everything will work out ok. Also, after the bad news they got they got a phone call that Joshs' grandmother had passed away. It was very sad. Her husband is ill and couldn't get to the phone and she had died yesterday morning. By the time he was able to get to the phone she had been dead almost 8 hours. I can't imagine how horrible that was for him. So please say a prayer for Joshs' family.

So I got a new widget to your right. I've been getting so many hits and I had it on invisible so I thought I'd show it off a little. I find it fascinating where everyone is visiting from. I have also added my own signature, I think it's neat. I'm off to comment and read blogs. Stay safe!

Alabama Won, Had My Grandson, A Great Weekend

Hello Everyone,

I had a great weekend we had Ray and we had a wonderful time. He is such fun to be around. It is amazing to me how much this little person can brighten our life.

We have been real careful around him while watching Alabama games. My husband and I tend to get overly excited. So Larry watched the game in the bedroom and Ray and I watched it in the living room. Well I was very good at containing my excitment and not screaming obscenities. lol The last time I had him while a Alabama game was on I yelled when we sacked the quarterback and scared the poor little guy. We have taught him how to say touchdown and throw his arms straight up. Well Saturday I was doing my best to teach him "touchdown Alabama". So when I would clap he'd throw his arms up and yell "Touchdown Alllaaaabbbbbaahhhhhmmmmmmma" lol. It took forever for Alabama to get out of his mouth and it just made me laugh. He can say Roll Tide but you really don't understand it, might take a couple more weeks for him to get that down.

Alabama won and now we are heading to Atlanta!!! Roll Tide!!! I am so excited not only for us die hard fans but also for the guys on the team. We tend to forget how young they are when we are hollering at them while they play. I am excited for both of my nephews who are students at Alabama and will be experiencing a year there where Alabama clinches the SEC West. I also believe that we will win the National Championship!!! It's been a long time coming.

I also was lucky enough to run into my friend that was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Her doctor here has no experience with the type of leukemia they think she has and he just told her that he was "out of my comfort zone". So her and her family are going to Houston, TX to a doctor that does have experience with this type of leukemia. She really does need answers. You know the not knowing can drive you crazy. She has been upset over the reaction it has had on her family. So say a prayer for her that she gets some good news and it's not as dire as it could be.

Another friend of mine emailed me that she was moving to Houston, Texas. Her husband has been transferred and you know with today's economy you just have to go where the work is. So I told her I'd miss her and she'd better stay in touch.
